KJazz 88.1 needs your help to Save Our Jazz in our local schools in the Long Beach, CA area. KJazz is organizing two student music concerts to benefit, support and extend music programs in and outside the classroom. KJazz will invite local schools and student jazz groups to showcase their musical talents. Student groups from Oak Middle School, Woodrow Wilson Classical High School, The Long Beach Jazz Angels, and California State University Long Beach will be performing at this 2-part special benefit concert series.
Hosted by Helen Borgers, this concert series will take place at KDB in Long Beach on February 17th and February 24th. Each event will offer opportunities for students and families to play, learn, share and inspire the community. In addition, all revenue from Indiegogo over $2,500 and 100% of the tickets sold by the schools will go directly to funding these music programs.

Our objective for Save Our Jazz is to educate, inspire and develop new musicians by giving them a place to showcase their talents. As music programs are dwindling in schools, it is crucial that we find ways to develop and nurture the talent of young jazz musicians by electrifying the surrounding community. With the help of individuals, foundations, and corporations, we hope to provide an opportunity for our youth to express their talents and encourage artistic growth both as an individual and as a group. The student concerts will not only offer young musicians the encouragement they need, but also the financial resources necessary for their programs to continue. |
